British Passenger Lists to be Online

The National Archives previously announced that inwards passenger lists (BT26), 1878-1960 would be digitized and placed online (see announcement). In the case of BT26, the records prior to 1891 are sparse and cover mostly Irish ports.

Today, the British Business.Telegraph ran the announcement that 1837online has made a $4.35 million deal to digitize and place online the outbound passenger lists (BT27), 1890-1960 (see article).

While both cover mostly 20th century records, it is yet another sign of increasing availability to records. Hooray!
